“I worked with Shaun at APX Fitness while I was rehabbing from total knee replacement surgery. Shaun customized my personal training sessions to help me regain my strength, stability, and confidence. Shaun is very professional and knowledgeable and knows how to keep you challenged to strive for the best outcomes. I am now 8 months post surgery and am feeling great. Thank you, Shaun for your expert training and guidance!”

“I love being a mom, and I love my career, but there have been times when I did not love myself. When I first met Shaun, I was overweight and at an all-time emotional low. I tried many times to get my act together but could not do it alone. My first consultation with Shaun was spent talking through and understanding my goals. During our meeting I started to feel inspired and motivated that I could start my journey to a healthier lifestyle. He listened to me and understood the patience and motivation that I required. After my first workout session, I felt I had made a new best friend. Shaun keeps the workout fun and motivating, making you want to come back and reach your goals. Within a week I was losing weight, feeling stronger and even added boxing to my routine! Shaun and I have been training for over 10 years now; he is very knowledgeable and always focused on keeping his clients safe and progressing to their goals. His positivity makes you want to work harder and believe in yourself. I strongly recommend him for your personal training needs. In addition, he now trains my 17-year-old son who looks forward to working out with Shaun every week.”

“I needed a good personal trainer to help figure out what I was doing wrong in the gym. I would spend hours with little to no change. Shaun knew exactly what movements and exercises to get the results I wanted. I learn so much in our sessions. He has a passion for his work and is always motivating. Definitely recommend him as a professional personal trainer.”

“Shaun is the best trainer I’ve ever had. He is honestly one of the most knowledgeable, versatile, motivating and overall positive guys I’ve ever known. He’s had my back through divorce, deaths, bad nutrition and world pandemics. We have trained in my home gym, his cool gym facility, outside in local parks and virtual sessions online, and he has never let me down. I would highly recommend him to hire as a personal trainer.”

“I am a 70-year-old male. I have worked with several trainers one-on-one for brief periods over my adult years until I started training with Shaun on a continuous basis over the last 11 years. As a result of his multifaceted expertise as a trainer and motivator he has become an indispensable partner in my wellness journey as I progress through the years.
Shaun has an extraordinary ability to listen and tune into my evolving training and rehabilitation support needs. Our journey together started with a primary focus on strength training as I needed reinforcement to challenge me beyond my comfort zone. He is an exceptional “kick butt” motivator, full of energy and passion. He brings an endless range of highly effective strength training, cardio and stretching routines in his portfolio. As a result, my training has transitioned seamlessly with him between gyms, outdoors parks, at my home gym, and currently at his APX Fitness Gym located in North Wales.
What catapults Shaun into the exceptional category as a trainer for my needs has been his guidance and remedial support in successfully dealing with several of my neuromuscular imbalances. They have ranged from poor posture, to dragging my right leg while walking due to a torn meniscus, as well as supplemental rehabilitation after major shoulder surgery and being “medically” discharged by my orthopedic surgeon after months of physical therapy (PT). It took Shaun one training session after my PT for him to pinpoint how severely my right and left shoulder and arm movements were misaligned along with the limitations in my range of motion. He immediately adapted my training program to successfully resolve these imbalances and lack of symmetry. I am deeply grateful to Shaun for his careful attention to my ever-changing body dynamics and training needs as I grow older. I have no doubt that without his skillful guidance and support over the last decade I would be limping along through life today with several physical deformities and their associated limitations and physical pain.
I highly recommend Shaun to you as an outstanding personal trainer and neuromuscular rehabilitation partner.”Denis Moore

“I spend most of the day sitting at work. I was feeling weak and noticed I was developing poor posture. I have been working with Shaun for over 5 years now and my life has changed for the better. He constantly challenges me with varied workouts and offers advice to relieve my occasional aches and pains. Shaun got right to work on beating me into shape, while at the same time forcing me to be accountable for my own health and happiness. I can honestly say, I don’t know where I would be without him.”

The key to lasting weight loss success is to avoid short-term diets and focus on dietary awareness and behavior modifications.
During your free 30-min nutrition consultation, we’ll analyze your current eating habits and identify areas where you can make small dietary or behavioral changes that will help you achieve your goals safely and effectively.
We’ll meet in-person and follow-up biweekly to talk about your progress and give you recommendations on how to address situations that lead to unconstructive eating patterns and improper food choices so that you stay committed to your goals.
-
We’ll work with you to develop a long-term meal plan tailored to your lifestyle, preferences, dietary restrictions, and health goals so that you can lose weight and manage metabolic conditions.
With our expert guidance, making healthy food choices at the grocery store or in a restaurant will become second-nature. We’ll teach you how to read food labels, understand serving sizes, calorie counts, and macronutrients.
Create healthier versions of the foods you love by learning about new ingredients and cooking methods that will reduce calories, increase nutritional value, and keep you satisfied.
-
We’ll set the foundation for your personal training program by establishing:
S.M.A.R.T Goals
Examining Medical History
Discussing Lifestyle & Behaviors
Gathering Biometric Data
For more details about our wellness assessments, please check out our free consultation. We will collect these measurements in the first session to mark your starting point and then revisit them periodically during reassessments so you can see your progress.
-
During the first few weeks of your personal training program, or the stabilization phase, we will discover your strengths, weaknesses, and muscular imbalances. You will learn and master proper form and technique for exercises that will restore postural alignment and improve mind-muscle connection. This step safely prepares the body for more challenging exercise in the next phase.
-
Once you’ve mastered the basics, we’ll challenge your body to push past its comfort zone by manipulating training variables (weight, sets, reps, time, etc). Your body will adapt to increased demands by building stronger muscles, fortifying joints, boosting metabolism, and improving cardiorespiratory endurance.
-
In the last phase, we’ll focus on exercises that sculpt the body and help you maintain the progress you’ve made by reinforcing positive lifestyle changes.

Whether you’re going under the knife for a partial or full joint replacement, prehabilitation (pre-surgery strengthening) can contribute to faster recovery and stronger muscles after surgery.
Prehabilitation uses targeted exercises to increase strength and endurance of the muscules surrounding the joint that will be replaced. This is crucial in reducing stiffness after surgery, increasing blood flow to recovering tissue, and minimizing post-surgical complications.
After surgery, our rehabilitation program continues to help you alleviate pain without using potentially harmful drugs through various types of therapy.
Manual (Massage) Therapy
Heat / Cold Therapy
Electrical Stimulation
Light Exercise

Many fitness and life goals are dashed by an unexpected injury. This can be devastating to the body as well as the mind. Learn how to avoid injuries, long term damage, and setbacks with proper stretching, warm up, and range of motion (ROM) exercises.
We’ll incorporate various stretching techniques (static, dynamic, PNF, and manual therapy) into a customized plan to loosen tight muscles, reduce pain, and improve joint stiffness and flexibility.
-
Sleep is essential for healing tissue damage and relieving pain, but pain often causes insomnia and prevents you from falling asleep. By conducting an in-depth review of your sleeping patterns and the body’s sleeping positions, we can recommend ways to get a better night’s rest. Discover sleeping positions and behaviors that can produce optimal skeletal and muscular functionality, and learn which ones place stress on your body.

Sports Specialized Programs
Personalized training plans for sports athletes of all fitness levels that focus on specific skills, techniques, and physical attributes to enhance performance, prevent injury, and promote recovery.
-
Protective gear and equipment - padding, helmets, shoes, mouth guards - have improved the safety of sports, but athletes are still susceptible to injury.
If you have the right gear but are still getting hurt, let’s talk about proper training practices, warm-ups, and stretching techniques. Embracing these practices into your exercise routine can prevent many common sports injuries:
Sprains and Strains
Bone Fractures
Knee Injuries like ACL and Meniscus Tears
Dislocations
Shoulder Rotator Cuff Tears
General Overuse Injuries
Our personal trainer will provide expert advice about sport-specific injury prevention, develop a safe warm-up routine, and ensure that you stay in the game.
-
Strength and resistance training is crucial for athletes as it enhances muscle strength, power, and endurance, leading to improved performance and injury prevention.
Our personal trainer will develop an effective strength and resistance training program that is specific to your needs and sport requirements. We’ll provide:
Regular assessments and progress tracking.
Instruction on proper weightlifting form and technique.
Gradual increases in training volume and intensity.
Constant motivation and encouragement to reach your goals.
Exercise diversity that is fun and effective.
-
Many team and individual sports require explosive power to produce quick and strong vertical or horizontal movements, which can be achieved through plyometric training.
This program will help condition your body to produce rapid movements with maximal force through exercises that manipulate the muscle's stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) like jumps, hops, throws, bounds, and more.
-
Many team and individual sports require SAQ skills:
Speed: moving swiftly in one direction.
Agility: quick directional changes with control.
Quickness: reacting and moving rapidly.
SAQ drills can benefit all athletes by enhancing neuromuscular coordination, increasing balance and stability, and reducing the risk of injury. We’ll create sport-specific drills to improve your footwork, sprinting speed, reaction time, and your ability to swiftly change direction.
-
We’ll help you learn and incorporate active and passive recovery strategies into your training plan so that your body adequately heals between games and training:
Active Rest: strategic movements to prevent joint stiffness.
Stretching to reduce muscle soreness and enhance flexibility.
Foam rolling to release muscle tension.
Guidance and recommendations about sleep, hydration, and nutrition for athletes.
